MAGA’s swan song
There is an old Buddhist maxim that we should not judge a moment as good or bad before understanding how it fits into the whole of our experience.
Although we may not currently be able to judge how the MAGA movement fits into history, the recent protests in Minneapolis against ICE may be its Waterloo. Public opinion is rejecting the use of power for vengeance, and not for good.
A Democrat in a deep red Texas district has just been elected to the Texas Senate. Although, like Lindbergh, the MAGA movement may not die, I sense that it is beginning to fade away.

Accept the award and sit down
Re “Garbage at the Grammys,” Feb. 4: I wanted to throw an atta-boy out to Dennis Singleton of Dayton for his letter to the editor.
Just like all awards shows these days, where we should be celebrating the beauty and entertainment value of film and music, we have to listen to pin-wearing, ill-informed actors and so-called musicians talk out of both sides of their mouths while living in wall- and security-enclosed homes about what they think on the other side of them.
Just grab your Grammy, smile, say thank you to your family, friends and people that made it possible and walk off the stage.
Awards shows used to be exciting, happy and entertaining. Now, they are just the opposite. And if you don’t believe me, just check out the ratings now and from when, as Singleton mentioned, great music in all categories was celebrated.

Trump’s trampling the Constitution
President Donald Trump wants to rig the elections by nationalizing them. He has started this illegal work in Fulton County, Georgia. He also has said that he might take a third term as president.
How to stop this?
Thank you, good citizens of Minneapolis, for your resistance to the destruction of our democracy. We the people must eliminate this trampling of our Constitution and laws by Trump’s administration.
