Jim Tressel bobbleheads in customs, delayed for Columbus Aviators game

Mini versions of former Ohio State football football coach Jim Tressel had a difficult time getting through customs.

The Columbus Aviators announced April 30 that Jim Tressel bobbleheads will not arrive in time for the May 1 home game against the Houston Gamblers, per a release. The UFL says the bobbleheads, which were to be given out to the first 5,000 fans before the game, are being held in customs and will not arrive in time for the game

The league will instead give redemption vouchers for the first 5,000 fans who enter the stadium May 1. Those vouchers can be redeemed at a later date.

Season-ticket holders will also have one bobblehead reserved per account. Additional details, including redemption timing and pickup locations, will be provided at a later date, according to the league.

The Crew had a similar issue this month and had to postpone a garden gnome giveaway originally scheduled for April 25 due to shipping issues “outside the club’s control.”

Though Tressel is not affiliated with the Aviators, he endorsed former Ohio State wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. when he was appointed head coach of the new Columbus franchise.
