Is 'The Bachelorette' canceled? What to know amid Taylor Frankie Paul news

The upcoming star of “The Bachelorette” is at the center of a police investigation days before her season is set to premiere, USA TODAY reported March 17.

Police are reportedly investigating an alleged domestic incident involving Taylor Frankie Paul, who was named the star of season 22 of the ABC reality show in September, and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, according to USA TODAY. Both Paul and Mortensen star in the Hulu reality TV series, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”

Fans of “The Bachelorette” may wonder if this will affect the show’s premiere. Here’s what we know.

What happened to Taylor Frankie Paul?

The Draper City Police Department in Northern Utah confirmed to People magazine that there is an ongoing “domestic assault investigation” involving Paul and Mortensen, who have both reportedly leveled allegations. Law enforcement made contact with the parties on Feb. 24 and 25, the spokesperson told the outlet.

When reached by USA TODAY, the Draper Police Department issued a statement saying it “respects the rights and privacy of all citizens.”

It continued, “without an immediate impact to public safety, it is the practice of the department not to release details related to active investigations.”

TMZ was first to report the news of an incident involving Paul and Mortensen, which the outlet said caused a pause in production on season 5 of “Mormon Wives.”

USA TODAY, an Enquirer sister publication, has reached out to representatives for “Mormon Wives” for comment.

Is ‘The Bachelorette’ canceled?

The release date for “The Bachelorette” has so far not changed amid the police investigation.

The official Instagram account for the show posted a teaser clip for Paul’s season March 17 with a caption that includes the previously reported premiere date, March 22.

While TMZ reported the incident paused production on “Mormon Wives,” the same is unlikely for “The Bachelorette.” The majority of “The Bachelorette” is filmed before the release date. However, the “Men Tell All” special as well as the “Finale” episode and the accompanying “After the Final Rose” special are traditionally filmed live.

The Enquirer reached out to “The Bachelorette” to confirm the investigation won’t affect the upcoming season.

When does the new season of ‘The Bachelorette’ come out?

Season 22 of “The Bachelorette” premieres March 22 at 8 p.m. ET.
