Guardians score, recap | Guardians beat the Orioles, improve to 4-1 since All-Star break

CLEVELAND — The Guardians faced the Baltimore Orioles as Cleveland continued the recent offensive surge with a 6-3 win at Progressive Field.

The Guardians were coming off of a 10-5 win on July 21, and they’ve averaged more than six runs over their last 11 games.

Here’s how the Guardians’ July 22 game against the Baltimore Orioles unfolded.

Emmanuel Clase earns the save, Guardians beat Orioles for second consecutive night; Guardians get back to .500 record

Clase earned the save, and the Guardians have beaten the Orioles 6-3. Cleveland has now won four of their five games since the All-Star break, and they’re back to .500 for the season at 50-50.

And since their 10-game skid, the Guardians are 10-2.

Guardians take 3-run lead into 9th inning against Orioles

Cade Smith threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings, which will lead to Emmanuel Clase working the ninth with a 6-3 lead to try to finish off the Orioles.

Brayan Rocchio bunt brings home a run; Guardians beating Orioles

Jackson Holliday drove in a run with a single in the top of the seventh, but that was equalized in the bottom half of the inning. With Nolan Jones on third, Brayan Rocchio laid down a perfectly-placed bunt that scored the run and put Cleveland up 6-3 entering the eighth inning.

Gold Glover Steven Kwan steals a double from Ramon Urias

Steven Kwan has become a master at playing the 19-foot wall in left field at Progressive Field.

Ramon Urias lined a ball that one-hopped the wall. Kwan played the bounce perfectly and fired to second, nabbing Urias at second base by a few steps and taking away an extra-base hit. That was Kwan’s ninth outfield assist this season, which leads the American League.

Guardians lead Orioles entering 7th inning

Daniel Schneemann walked and stole second, which set up Brayan Rocchio for an RBI single. After Bo Naylor walked, which moved Rocchio into scoring position, Angel Martinez continued his torrid stretch with an RBI single to left-center field, putting the Guardians up 5-2.

Martinez is now 3-for-4 tonight with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Ramon Laureano crushes home run vs Erik Sabrowski

Ramon Laureno is having a heckuva series, and he just launched a solo home run off of Erik Sabrowski to make it a 3-2 Guardians lead. Laureano also homered last night. Both were no doubters right off the bat.

Kyle Manzardo adds to Guardians lead vs Orioles

Kyle Manzard, again, has extended Cleveland’s advantage, this time with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning that followed a walk and an Angel Martinez double.

The Guardians are up 3-1. Martinez, Jose Ramirez and Manzardo, hitting in the 2-3-4 holes tonight, have been responsible for the production thus far.

Orioles cut into Guardians’ lead in the 5th inning

The Orioles cut into their deficit, but that inning could have been much worse for Joey Cantillo.

Two singles and a walk loaded the bases with nobody out to set up Jacob Stallings, who brought a run home with a ground ball, though the Guardians were able to turn a double play and later escape the inning with a 2-1 lead in tact.

Guardians, Orioles update: Kyle Manzardo extends Cleveland lead, Joey Cantillo through 3 scoreless innings

Joey Cantillo has looked effectively wild tonight, holding the O’s to three hitless innings, though he’s also walked three with three strikeouts.

In the bottom of the third, Angel Martinez — who has been on a hot streak — singled and moved to second via a Jose Ramirez walk. Kyle Manzardo followed with a single to center field to score Martinez and give the Guardians a 2-0 lead.

Jose Ramirez blasts home run; Guardians, Orioles score

It appears as though the extra rest through the All-Star break has benefited Jose Ramirez, who just launched a solo home run in the first inning for the second consecutive night to put Cleveland up 1-0.
