The crash happened at 2:10 a.m. June 9 at East Livingston Avenue and South Yearling Road and involved two Ford Fusions, Columbus police said in a news release.

An adult driving a 2020 Ford Fusion left the parking lot of an apartment complex at 4069 E Livingston Ave. and entered the intersection heading north, according to the news release.

Tywan Horton, 26, was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion east on Livingston Avenue and failed to stop for a red light, police alleged in the release. The front of Horton’s car hit the driver’s side rear of the other car.

Horton’s car continued northeast across the road and hit a tree, and he was thrown from the vehicle.

Horton was taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition and died at the hospital at 2:49 a.m. No other injuries were reported.

The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Accident Investigation Unit at 614-645-4767 or provide an anonymous tip to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
