Doo Dah Parade brings out weird and wacky of Columbus for the satirical event's 42nd year

The day after the official festivities of Red, White & BOOM!, the weird and wacky turned out in true Columbus fashion for a celebration of life, liberty and the pursuit of “literary lunacy.”

For the 42nd year, the satirical Doo Dah Parade kicked off at 1 p.m. July 4 at Park Street and Buttles Avenue, stretching from Goodale Park into Victorian Village.

Less-Than-Grand Marshal, NBC4 news anchor Colleen Marshall oversaw this year’s event, which branded itself as a “signal we can all chat about,” according to the parade’s website. In addition to the parade, an all-day block party at Goodale Park also featured political debates and satirists’ readings.

In a Facebook post to participants and attendees alike, Doo Dah Chair Deb Roberts called the 2025 event “the best and biggest political satire parade I thinkin its entire history.

“Your voices were heard loud and clear you made me laugh so hard and cry at the same time,” Roberts wrote. “After the parade, everyone was saying that it was the best, ever. Doo Dah lovers, you were on top of your game.”

Did you miss out on the fun? There are plenty of other Fourth of July celebrations around central Ohio to enjoy this holiday weekend.
