For the second year in a row, Waynesville’s season comes to a close against Fairland in the regional semifinal.
The Spartans finish the year at 19-7 with back-to-back district titles. Maggie Stephenson ended the season as the team’s leader with 13.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 4.2 steals per game. Katie Berrey added 10.8 points and 3.8 points per game, while Grace Cordery grabbed the most rebounds with 7.7 a game while scoring 9.6 points per game.
Waynesville will graduate eight seniors at the end of the school year: Katie Berrey, Bella Bradley, Maddie Kolaczkowski, Grace Cordery, Amelia Bunch, Maggie Stephenson, and Arianna Corwin.
OHSAA Division VI regional semifinals
Fayetteville-Perry 45, West Liberty 33
The Rockets are headed to the regional finals!
After a 45-33 victory against West Liberty, Fayetteville-Perry will advance to take on St. Henry at Springfield High School on March 7. The Rockets have won district titles in each of the past four seasons but are now just one win away from the state final four.
It will be a high-powered showdown when 24-2 Fayetteville-Perry clashes with 24-1 St. Henry. Fayetteville-Perry has been a balanced team all year with five players scoring over 7 points per game: Christina Murphy, Cara Rummel, Aubrey Barber, Lilly Carlier, and Lindi Carlier.

Seton 52, Winton Woods 51
There will be a new Division II state champion in Ohio after the Seton Saints held on to beat Winton Woods 52-51 in the regional semifinal round.
That game followed the other regional semifinal where Mount Notre Dame stayed undefeated, beating Loveland 67-31. That set up an all-Girls Greater Catholic League regional final between Seton and Mount Notre Dame. The pair met twice in the regular season with the Cougars taking both contests in close affairs. Mount Notre Dame won 62-56 on Dec. 2 and 57-54 on Jan. 13. Those game made up two of Seton’s three losses this season.
The regional final round will be on March 7 with a 2 p.m. tipoff time at Princeton High School.
OHSAA Division IV regional semifinals
Purcell Marian 80, McNicholas 48
Purcell Marian’s hunt for a fifth-consecutive Ohio state championship is still alive after the Cavaliers beat McNicholas 80-48 in the regional semifinals.
Purcell Marian (21-6) has won five postseason games, averaging just under 75 points per game scored in those contests. Purcell Marian will meet Alter in the regional final at 7:30 p.m. on March 7 at Vandalia Butler. The teams did not meet in the regular season.
