As the Cavaliers secure their depth at guard after the loss of Ty Jerome in free agency, second-round draft selection Tyrese Proctor has been signed to a long-term deal, the team announced July 1.
Proctor was selected with the No. 49 pick in the draft out of Duke. He’ll have a full-time roster spot, rather than a two-way contract, and a chance to break into coach Kenny Atkinson’s rotation.

The Cavs signed Proctor to a four-year, $8.69 million deal, according to HoopsHype. The first two years are guaranteed. The third year is partially guaranteed. The final year is a team option.
Proctor will have a chance to carve out a role in the Cavaliers rotation after a shakeup this summer. In addition to Jerome leaving via free agency, the Cavs acquired guard Lonzo Ball in a trade with the Chicago Bulls for Isaac Okoro. Cleveland also re-signed Sam Merrill to a multi-year deal.
