Browns score vs Titans live updates: NFL Week 14 box score, highlights

CLEVELAND — Two prominent rookie quarterbacks dueling it out. A future Hall of Famer in the midst of his best season chasing more NFL history.

Not exactly the backdrop one would expect for a game pitting a 3-9 team against a 1-11 team. That, however, is exactly what exists as the Browns play host to the Tennessee Titans.

It’ll be Browns fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders making his third start against the Titans’ No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. Ward, though, will be trying to avoid being the victim of Myles Garrett’s NFL single-season record sack, which Garrett is just 3.5 sacks away from tying and four away from breaking.

Halftime: Cleveland Browns 17, Tennessee Titans 14

The Browns will get the ball to start the third quarter.

Myles Garrett gets sack No. 20 of the season

It took until there was less than a minute, but Myles Garrett got his first sack of the day. It was a 9-yard loss on third-and-5 from the Titans 44.

Garrett is 2.5 sacks from tying the NFL single-season sacks record.

Shedeur Sanders to Jerry Jeudy for the Cleveland Browns lead

There’s the connection everyone has been waiting to see. Shedeur Sanders hit Jerry Jeudy on a post pattern, after Jeudy beat the Titans’ Amani Hooker and Darrell Baker Jr., and he went 60 yards for the touchdown.

Jeudy slowed up right before the goal line to do a forward flip into the end zone. After getting in the end zone, Jeudy knelt for a moment, and Sanders came over and joined him for a moment before both got up.

The score gave the Browns a 17-14 lead with 2:47 remaining.

Tyson Campbell with 3rd-down pass breakup for Browns

The Browns were looking to get the ball back with less than four minutes remaining in the half. Cornerback Tyson Campbell came up and broke up a pass intended for Tennessee’s Van Jefferson on third-and-4 from the Titans 33, forcing a punt with 3:54 remaining in the second quarter.

Carson Schwesinger in medical tent after 3rd-down stop

Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger went into the medical tent after being shaken up on a third-down defensive stop with just under 12 minutes remaining in the second quarter. There’s been no official word yet on the nature of the injury, although the independent evaluator did go into the tent.

Schwesinger did emerge with his helmet and return to the bench after a short time.

Malachi Corley out with concussion, David Njoku questionable with knee

The Browns had two injuries to their pass-catching group on back-to-back plays. The team announced wide receiver Malachi Corley sustained a concussion on a jet sweep and is out for the game.

Tight end David Njoku is questionable to return with a knee injury sustained on his touchdown catch.

David Njoku catches touchdown pass, shaken up on play

David Njoku caught a 1-yard touchdown pass on an out route to the left side of the end zone from Shedeur Sanders. The tight end, though, remained down for a moment while trainers looked at him before getting up and signaling to the crowd, although he eventually went to the locker room.

Andre Szmyt’s PAT kick pulled Cleveland within 14-10 with 14:24 remaining in the second quarter.

Malachi Corley shaken up on jet sweep

Malachi Corley took a big shot on a 1-yard jet sweep from Tennessee’s Amani Hooker. He stayed down for a moment before being helped to the medical tent.

End 1st quarter: Tennessee Titans 14, Cleveland Browns 3

The Browns will have it second-and-goal from the Titans 4 to open the second quarter.

Qunshon Judkins goes for big gain on screen pass

The Browns got a big gain on their own screen pass, this one to running back Quinshon Judkins. It was originally a 58-yard catch and run to the Titans 2, but Tennessee cchallenged that he had stepped out of bounds near its 25.

The call, though, held up under review, giving the Browns first and goal at the Titans 2.

Tony Pollard creases Browns defense for long TD run for Titans

The Titans needed just one play to open up a double-digit lead after the Browns field goal. Running back Tony Pollard took the first handoff 65 yards for the Tennessee touchdown with 1:29 remaining in the first quarter.

Tennessee now leads 14-3 over the Browns.

It was the longest play by a Browns opponent against the defense. The previous long was a 53-yard run by Baltimore’s Derrick Henry.

Andre Szmyt puts Cleveland Browns on board with FG

The Browns had to settle for a 38-yard Andre Szmyt field goal with 1:42 remaining in the first quarter. That cut the Tennessee lead to 7-3.

Devin Bush with interception of Cam Ward for Browns

The Browns desperately needed a play from someone with the Titans at third-and-9 from the Cleveland 24. Linebacker Devin Bush was that guy, picking off Cam Ward and returning it 44 yards to the Tennessee 39.

Kevin Stefanski loses challenge over backward pass

The Browns didn’t get the benefit of either an official changing a call, nor a subsequent challenge by coach Kevin Stefanski on a pass that was ruled to have been thrown backwards to Tyjai Spears for a gain of 3. They originally ruled it a forward pass, which is why they flagged Tennesssee’s Van Jefferson for pass interference.

However, they changed the ruling to a backward pass, which stood on replay challenge by Stefanski.

Boos as Browns go 3-and-out on 1st drive

The Browns went three-and-out on their first offensive possession. Two Quinshon Judkins runs netted minus-1 yards, then Shedeur Sanders was sacked for a loss to 2 yards.

Then, after a false start ahead of the punt, Corey Bojorquez shanked a punt that was downed at the Browns 46 with 7:07 remaining in the first quarter.

Big kickoff return, 3rd down pass help Titans on 1st drive

The Titans got a 41-yard kickoff return from Chimere Dike to give them starting field position at their own 47. Then, on third-and-10, they gained 24 yards on a screen pass to Tyjai Spears to move the ball to the Browns 29.
