Browns re-sign Kent State, Mentor High product Luke Floriea to practice squad

A popular hometown training camp hero is coming back to the Browns’ practice squad.

Wide receiver Luke Floriea was signed Sept. 23, the team announced. The Browns waived defensive end K.J. Henry from the practice squad.

Floriea is a Mentor High School graduate and product of Kent State University. His local ties made him a fan favorite during the preseason, at least until it was cut short by a hamstring injury that led to the Browns waiving him in mid-August.

Floriea suffered the injury while making a fantastic one-handed catch in the second quarter of the Browns’ preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers before leaving in the third quarter. He played 14 snaps on offense and four on special teams in the game, with the 30-yard catch and two punt returns for a 4.5 average his only stats.
