Bengals listed as ideal landing spot for…Mike Tomlin?

The Cincinnati Bengals have plenty of things to worry about right now over coaching concerns they may or may not address next offseason.

But the same certainly doesn’t apply to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Those Steelers are a mess, with names like Ben Roethlisberger calling for the job of Mike Tomlin.

Naturally, this has caused “best possible landing spot” pieces to pop up for Tomlin.

And one, from Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox…lists the Bengals as a future option for Tomlin:

“Tomlin could essentially focus on retooling the defense while allowing Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Chase Brown and the rest of Cincinnati’s playmakers to do what they do best for whomever he hires as the offensive coordinator—and Tomlin wouldn’t struggle to find a capable coordinator willing to coach that group.”

The Bengals are a great spot for any head coach candidate, should the job open up. And funnily enough, if the Bengals do move on from Zac Taylor, they might go the other direction next time and go after a defensive-minded coach.

But this is getting way, way ahead of things. Taylor has been on the hot seat this season for being unable to field an even average defense while Joe Burrow was out. If they miss the playoffs, the organization will have some soul-searching to do.

Right now, though, the focus is on Burrow and a long-shot playoff push. And Tomlin in Cincinnati is, of course, a non-starter for Bengals fans, anyway.
