The Ashland Arrows will send five wrestlers to the Division I state wrestling tournament while the Crestview Cougars have one headed to state.
Ashland’s Mason Bauer won a 138-pound Division I district championship out of the Wadsworth tournament on Saturday, March 7. He cruised through his first two matches with a 1:42 and a 1:17 pin before picking up an 18-2 tech fall over Kaiden Barker of Louisville in the semifinals. He won his district championship by default after Massillon Perry’s Seth Cavazos withdrew from the title match.

Ashland’s Guardian Miller won a 150-pound Division I district championship out of the Wadsworth tournament. He won his first two matches by tech fall with an 18-2 and 20-5 score before beating Massillon Perry’s Cameron Plotts 4-1 in the semifinals. He then knocked off Brunswick’s Brayden Miles 7-2 in the championship match.
Ashland’s Drayston Martin took second in the 215-pound weight class at the Division I district tournament in Wadsworth. He won his first match with a 1:41 pin before a 17-7 major decision in the quarterfinals. He beat Barberton’s Jackson Phillips 3-2 in an ultimate tie breaker in the semis before falling to Eian Englehart of Avon in the championship match 5-0.
Ashland’s Max Ohl qualified for state out of the Division I district tournament at Wadsworth by taking third overall in the 120-pound weight class. He cruised to wins in his first two matches with an 18-1 tech fall before a 2:44 pin in the quarterfinals. He lost to Medina’s Taegan Gilmore 5-3 in the semifinals but pulled off a 4:49 pin in the blood round and a 2:51 pin in the consolation championship match to earn third place.
Ashland’s Talon Boyd took fourth at 165 pounds in the Division I Wadsworth district tournament. Boyd took the road less traveled to his state qualifying spot with a 21-second pin in his opening match before falling 8-6 in the quarterfinals. He won three matches in the consolation bracket before falling in the championship match to take fourth.
Crestview junior Brayden Parrigan qualified for state after taking fourth in the 138-pound weight class at the Division III district meet in Rossford on Saturday, March 7. He won his first two matches with a 5:40 pin over Eastwood’s Logan McBride before pinning Riverdale’s Grady Phelps in 3:22 to make it to the quarterfinals. There, he lost to Liberty Center’s Diane Bayer via a 3:55 pin before winning his blood round match with a 2:59 pin over Michael Soto of Genoa Area to take fourth place.
