Akron woman pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter in shooting death of Paige Calich

A 25-year-old woman pleaded guilty on May 23 to her role in the 2024 shooting death of Akron mother Paige Calich, 24.

Corvette Pope of Akron pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and obstructing justice, according to court documents.

Held in abeyance, or suspension, until sentencing are the charges of murder, two counts of felonious assault, tampering with evidence and multiple firearm specifications.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Christine Croce will sentence Pope at 1 p.m. on Aug. 11. Attorneys Rhonda Kotnik, Olivia Myers and Amanda Bizub represent Pope.

Denzel Pope has pending trial date in same case

Denzel Pope, 20 of Akron, is also charged in Calich’s death. He is charged with murder, felony murder, tampering with evidence, having weapons under disability, two counts of felonious assault and four three-year firearm specifications.

Calich was shot and killed at her Socrates Place apartment on July 28, 2024, following an argument, Akron police said.
