Vote for the Varsity 845 boys basketball players of the week for Feb. 2-8, Feb 9-15

The Varsity 845 boys basketball players of the week poll is online for Feb. 2-8 and Feb. 9-15. Information was utilized on reports gathered by Varsity 845 and nominations. Coaches are encouraged to provide their game reports in order for athletes to be chosen; they may also nominate one player from their team by Sunday afternoon.

One athlete per school is allowed per week. The week’s winner will have to sit out the next poll.

Baker Jimenez of Middletown and Ben Johnston of Rockland won the Jan. 26-Feb. 1 polls. Jimenez beat Jimmy Kelly of Goshen and Dozwie Nwigwe of Monroe-Woodbury; Johnston topped Seamus Johnston of Sullivan West and Grey Whitmore of Seward.

He had 14 points in the Wizards’ 60-46 loss to Goshen on Feb. 9.

Matt Guzman, Pine Bush

He scored 11 points as the Bushmen fell to Monroe-Woodbury 35-27 on Feb. 12.

Jimmy Kelly, Goshen

He scored 51 points as the Gladiators beat Minisink Valley 83-45 on Feb. 12. He had 23 points in a 64-50 loss to Kingston on Feb. 11. He added 22 points in a 60-46 win over Washingtonville on Feb. 9.

Quenten Liciaga, Warwick

He scored 14 points as the Wildcats downed Monticello 50-27 on Feb. 12.

Des Lynch, Wallkill

He scored 25 points as the Panthers topped Minisink Valley 59-47 on Feb. 11.

Dozie Nwigwe, Monroe-Woodbury

He scored 12 points as the Crusaders downed Pine Bush 35-27 on Feb. 12.

Max Sheth, Kingston

He scored 27 points as the Tigers beat Goshen 61-50 on Feb. 11.

Levi Vreeland, Minisink Valley

He scored 10 points as the Warriors lost to Goshen 83-45 on Feb. 12. He had nine points in a 59-47 loss to Wallkill on Feb. 11.

He scored 14 points as the Dukes downed  Highland 49-42 on Feb. 9.

Tyler McCray, Rockland

He scored 14 points as the Wolves beat Tri-Valley 67-52 on Feb. 9.

Micah McDuffie, Chapel Field

He scored 21 points as the Lions beat Eldred 49-45 in overtime on Feb. 12.

Dominic Meier, Mount Academy

He had 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Mount downed Highland 74-58 on Feb. 11. He had 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 67-63 loss to Onteora on Feb.  9.

Koen McGill, Eldred

He scored 23 points in the Yellowjackets’ 49-45 overtime loss to Chapel Field on Feb. 12. He had 13 points in a 51-48 win over Seward on Feb. 9.

Edwin Rodriguez, Ellenville

He scored 19 points in the Blue Devils’ 68-52 loss to Dover on Feb. 9.

Pat Salinovich, Highland

He scored 20 points as the Huskies lost to Mount Academy 74-58 on Feb. 11.

He scored 30 points in the Spartans’ 51-48 loss to Eldred on Feb. 9.

Bruce Maendel, Mount Academy

He had 28 points and 10 steals in the Mount’s 70-32 win over Millbrook on Feb. 6. He added 26 points and 13 boards in a 57-42 win over Ellenville on Feb. 3.

Kaleb Maldonado, Rockland

He scored 12 points in a 70-59 win over Seward on Feb. 2.

Amir McKenzie, Ellenville

He scored 10 points in a 57-42 loss to Mount Academy on Feb. 3.

Oliver Nneji, Rondout Valley

He had 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in the Ganders’ 69-32 win over Tri-Valley on Feb. 2.
