Holiday shipping deadlines are approaching faster than you may think as some packages will need to be sent as early as Dec. 15.
You may have to pay more, too, as the USPS announced it’s charging more for Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage and Parcel Select during the 2025 peak holiday season.

What is National Free Shipping Day?
National Free Shipping Day started in 2008 and takes place annually in mid-December. Many companies in the past have forgone shipping costs, allowing shoppers to keep a little extra money in their pockets in time for the holidays.
When is National Free Shipping Day in 2025?
This year, Free Shipping Day lands on Dec. 14.
What stores participate in Free Shipping Day?
Retailers make the decision whether or not to participate in Free Shipping Day. In the past, these stores have included Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Target, Nordstrom, Barnes & Noble, Bloomingdales, Best Buy, Kohl’s and many others. Check each store to see if you can earn some additional savings by shipping gifts on Dec. 14.
