Siemens Energy is investing $64 million in its Painted Post factory in Steuben County, where it manufactures reciprocating compressors and produces replacement parts for compressors.
The $64 million investment in Painted Post is part of an overall $1 billion investment by Siemens Energy in manufacturing in the United States, where the company said it is helping to deliver more power to more Americans and strengthen the U.S. energy supply chain amidst “an unparalleled surge in electricity demand.”
Power demand is being driven by rapidly expanding data centers, artificial intelligence infrastructure and next generation industrial electrification.
“Siemens Energy compressors keep energy flowing through pipelines in every part of this county and we need more of them,” said Matt Neal, Siemens Energy’s President of North America. “Growing our investment in Painted Post will enable us to make our factory here safer, more efficient and better able to serve the growing energy demand in the United States.”
Neal said there are about 10,000 Siemens Energy compressors installed throughout North America, used along pipelines to transport oil, gas, liquified natural gas, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and other liquids and gases.
The announcements of new and expanded manufacturing footprints were made Monday in New York, Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama, Texas and Florida.
Siemens Energy intends to create more than 1,500 highly skilled roles in manufacturing as part of its growth plans.
“Siemens Energy has been making things in the United States for more than a century and we are experiencing a once-in-a-generation growth opportunity due to the resurgence of U.S. manufacturing and the growth of artificial intelligence,” said Christian Bruch, CEO and President of Siemens Energy.
“The current policy environment has contributed to this momentum. The Trump Administration has made energy security, a reliable and resilient grid, and growing U.S. manufacturing jobs a priority. This has supercharged the energy demand which is supporting new investments across the energy sector. We are excited to help write this next chapter of American energy expansion.”
Company’s roots in Painted Post date back to 1899
Siemens Energy’s history in the United States dates back to the 1880s, when the company began early electrification activities and opened its first U.S. manufacturing site in Pittsburgh in 1887.
Rand Drill Company built a factory in Painted Post in 1899. It later became part of Ingersoll‑Rand when Rand Drill merged with Ingersoll‑Sergeant in 1905, specializing in drill and compressor manufacturing.
The company later became known as Dresser‑Rand and was acquired by Siemens AG in 2015, officials said. Siemens Energy was spun off to become a separately listed energy technology company from Siemens AG in 2020 and now operates as fully independent.
Siemens Energy is now one of the world’s leading energy technology companies. The company employs around 103,000 people worldwide in more than 90 countries and generated revenue of $39.1 billion in fiscal year 2025.
