A Putnam County teen was charged Monday with possessing child sex abuse material.
Acting Putnam County Sheriff Brian Hess said Wanderson Jimenez-Pinto, 18, of Southeast, was arrested October 2, after a search warrant revealed he was in possession of multiple electronic devices containing child sexual abuse materials.
Hess said the investigation into Jimenez-Pinto began in July, when the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
On October 2, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, along with Homeland Security, executed a search warrant at his residence in Southeast, where they found multiple electronic devices with images and files containing child sex abuse material.
Jimenez-Pinto was arrested and charged with nine counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and nine counts of possession of a sexual perofmance by a child, both felonies.
He was arraigned in the Town of Kent Court and was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
