On Tuesday, news broke that the New York Giants would be making a change and have rookie Jaxson Dart as the team’s starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. Dart will take the field at MetLife Stadium on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers for his first NFL start.
On Wednesday, as Dart prepares for his new role, he discussed his approach and the opportunities ahead of him in Week 4.
“I’m just going to lay everything I have on the line. That’s just the way that I play the game. When I step in between those lines, nothing else in the world matters to me except doing everything that I can to win it,” he told reporters. “Whatever rep that is in practice, whatever competition it may be, I just feel like I’m a competitor. Whatever I’ve got to do to prepare for the week, when I’m on the field to get a win, I’m going to give it my all to do that.”
With 14 games remaining in the season, the Giants’ fan base is excited to get a good look at who they hope will be the quarterback of the future.
There is sure to be growing pains for the rookie quarterback, especially with the tough schedule ahead, but the hope is that Dart can bring some of the game he showed in the preseason.
One thing is certain: Dart has the right attitude going into the situation, as he plans to make the best of the opportunity at hand. The swagger Dart brings to the team is something that has both fans and his teammates excited moving forward.
