When the New York Giants traded up to gain a second pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, they knew they needed Jaxson Dart on their roster. Even after signing both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, Joe Schoen made it happen, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions he’s made since becoming the Giants’ general manager.
Throughout the season, Around the NFL writer Nick Shook ranks every team’s starting quarterback, and with the Super Bowl over, he ranked all 63 quarterbacks who started games in 2025.

They’re numbered, but they’re also grouped into tiers, and Jaxson Dart falls into tier four, ranking 23rd overall among starting quarterbacks in 2025 — behind Tyler Sough and just ahead of Malik Willis.
Jaxson Dart electrified New York in a fashion it desperately needed at the quarterback position, but he also demonstrated a refusal to surrender that put him in harm’s way on a few occasions. His rookie season included some bumps in the road, but if he can stay on the field more consistently in the seasons ahead, I think the Giants might have their guy.
Dart ended the season with 216 completions for 2,272 yards and 15 touchdowns, but his style of play is what invigorated the Giants’ offense. He, combined with Cam Skattebo, has pulled eyes back to New York and given the Giants a reason to smile again. Now, with John Harbaugh also on the payroll, a postseason appearance feels more tangible than ever.
Jameis Winston, who started two games, landed in Tier 5 at No. 40 overall.
Jameis Winston lived up to his reputation as a veteran backup, keeping the Giants competitive while also reminding us of his tendency to commit turnovers at the worst possible time.
Russell Wilson landed in Tier 6 at No. 45 overall.
Russell Wilson rightfully lost his job before October but not before he delivered an outrageously explosive showing in Dallas. Otherwise, most of his other struggles from previous stops remained a persistent issue. He’ll carry minimal value as a veteran backup on the open market.
The Giants clearly have their man with Dart under center. Now they just need to work on getting him to slide instead of trying to bulldoze his way down the field head-first.
