Former Detroit Lions head coach and long-time NFL offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg was on hand at New York Giants training camp practice Wednesday and spent a significant portion of the session shadowing offensive coordinator Matt Nagy.
Mornhinweg, who previously served as offensive coordinator under John Harbaugh in Baltimore for three seasons, has deep ties to the organization. His son, Skylar Mornhinweg, currently works as an offensive analyst on Harbaugh’s staff.
The elder Mornhinweg’s presence offered a natural opportunity for him to observe Nagy’s installation and coaching methods up close during the team’s time in West Virginia.
A veteran of more than three decades in the league, Mornhinweg has held head coaching and coordinator roles with the Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, and Ravens, among others. His visit comes as Nagy continues to install his offense centered on detail, physicality, and explosive play design under Harbaugh’s direction.
While no official role or consulting capacity is expected, Mornhinweg’s appearance and time spent alongside Nagy drew attention from those covering camp.
The session marked another day of work for a Giants offense still early in the process of building cohesion under the new coaching staff.
