Man killed in Route 104 head-on crash identified

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision on State Route 104 in the Town of Sodus.

Deputies responded to the scene east of the State Route 14 intersection, where two vehicles had collided head-on. Preliminary reports indicate that a vehicle operated by Claude E. Krieger, 77, of Red Creek, crossed into the westbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by Philip C. Adamy, 70, of Hannibal.

Adamy was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with a head injury. Krieger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit and Investigations Division are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
