How to keep cool during extreme heat in mid-Hudson Valley: See list of cooling stations

A heat advisory is in effect June 25 for Middletown and Poughkeepsie.

As the heat index is projected to reach as high as 101 degrees in parts of the mid-Hudson Valley, experts recommend staying in air-conditioned rooms as much as possible.

Orange and Dutchess counties offer cooling stations during the summer months for those without air-conditioning. Open to the public, cooling stations are indoor facilities with seating, air-conditioning and water.

Some locations allow pets, wheelchair access and senior-only hours. Some centers may offer a snack bar, free Wi-Fi or basic medical support as well.
