Giants' John Harbaugh: Dalen Cambre 'making a move' to secure roster spot

The New York Giants entered their 2026 training camp with a crowded wide receiver room full of hopeful veterans and young players vying for spots on the team’s 53-man roster.

As camp has begun to unfold, several players have yet to make their impact known, while others have stood out.

One surprise thus far has been Dalen Cambre, a holdover from last year’s roster. Cambre was signed by the Giants last spring and spent the majority of the season on the practice squad. He eventually dressed for seven regular-season games last year and played primarily on special teams.

This summer, Cambre, a 2024 First Team All-American special teams player out of Louisiana, intends to make the team right out of camp. So far, he’s done nothing but make plays and force people to notice him.

“I see him make a circus catch every single day. And not just that, he’s doing all the other things,” head coach John Harbaugh told reporters on Wednesday. “He’s doing special teams. He knows what he’s doing. He’s running great routes. I think he’s making a move. I think he’s done a great job, and he’s got our attention.”

Cambre, listed at 6-foot and 192 pounds, is one of those players who has to do the things on the football field that other players can’t, or won’t, do, like special teams.

The Giants, under Harbaugh, hold special teams in high regard. Many players on the roster bubble usually make the team by displaying some type of prowess on special teams. For Cambre, he’s already done that.

It’s his impact on offense that he has to prove, and he’s been doing that every day.
