A grand jury has indicted a Florida man on murder charges in connection to the slayings of his two brothers at an Allegany County hunting cabin last year.
Scot D. Thompson, formerly of Englewood, Florida, was indicted April 29 by an Allegany County grand jury for two counts of second-degree murder.
Thompson, 65, is accused in the Nov. 23, 2025 shooting deaths of his brothers Mark B. Thompson, 70, of Canterbury, Connecticut, and David E. Thompson, 69, of Port Charlotte, Florida.
The shootings took place in the Town of Allen.
Authorities said the three men were staying at a Botsford Hollow Road hunting cabin when they got into a fight. One of the brothers called 911 and when New York State Police responded to the disturbance around 10:06 p.m. on Nov. 23, they said Scot Thompson had fatally shot the other two men with a rifle.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and the Geneseo Police Department took Scot Thompson into custody a short time later after he left the camp in his brother David’s vehicle.
State police charged Thompson with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal use of a firearm.
Thompson is in the Allegany County jail, being held without bail. He faces a maximum of 25 years to life if convicted of the charges, according to acting Allegany County District Attorney Peter J. Degnan.
Degnan and acting first assistant district attorney Danielle A. Ward presented the case to the grand jurors, the DA’s office said.
