Just over 5,500 Monroe County voters turned out to the polls this weekend to cast their ballots for hopeful candidates in several town, county and state elections.
Early voting began Oct. 25 and will continue daily through Nov. 2.
Voter turnout generally dips during off-year elections. In 2023, less than one-third of Monroe County registered voters made their way to the polls ― the lowest turnout in any general election going back to at least 2007, election officials said at the time. That year, a total of 23,388 voters took advantage of the early voting period.
