Warwick’s Luke Beattie eclipsed his own pole vault mark tied last season with a leap of 16 feet, 6 inches (Todd Uckermark of Warwick was tied at 16 feet, in 2014). Beattie, the state record holder indoors, is also the first three-time winner since Uckermark (2012-14).

Add to that, Beattie became the first repeat winner in the 100-meter dash (10.82) since Justin McCollin of Monroe-Woodbury (2008-10) and Beattie also won the 200 (21.92). Jadon Spain of O’Neill (2023) and Jiles Addison of Cornwall (2022) were the last sprinters to double in the 100 and 200.

Malachi Taylor of Washingtonville set the meet mark in the 400 meters (47.67), knocking off the mark of 47.75 set by Ryan Brennan of Monroe-Woodbury in 2011.

Tri-Valley’s Van Furman set a mark in the 1,600 (4:11.31), breaking the mark of 4:16.34 set by Washingtonville’s Martin Hehir in 2010.

Illunga Salerno of Cornwall is the first repeat winner in the 110 hurdles (14.57) since My-kell Ferrar of Monticello in 2016-17.

Dylan Miralle of John S. Burke Catholic is the first repeat winner in the non-scoring javelin (148-6) since Burke’s Mark Przybocki (2016-18).

Joe McDonald Jr. of Kingston won the high jump at 6 feet, 6 inches, only two inches off the meet mark of 6-8 by Xavier McAllister of Newburgh (2012) and Mel Mosely of Middletown (2011). He also won the long jump (22-8.25), the best winning leap since 2015.

Track winners included Samuel Anderson of Minisink Valley in the 800 (1:54.96; best winning mark since 2013); Van Furman of Tri-Valley in the 3,200 (9:13.89); David Holloway of Cornwall in the 400 hurdles (53.67); and, Andrew Lee of Kingston in the 3,000 steeplechase (9:30.84).

Field winners included Jeangardy Louis of Goshen in the triple jump (46-1.25; he also won in 2023); Kane Poje of Tri-Valley in the shot put (51-9; best winning mark since 2018); and, Shawn Bleboo of Kingston in the discus (157-3; fifth-best winning mark in last 39 years)

The Mid-Hudson Athletic League meet will be held on May 22 at Rondout Valley High School.
