A network outage delayed Delta Air Lines flights to and from Detroit Metro Airport, including routes between Detroit and the Des Moines International Airport.
A ground stop held all flights for several hours on Friday, Dec. 5. It was lifted by 8 a.m. CT, but delays were expected to continue into the afternoon. At least two departures from Des Moines and one arriving flight were delayed.
Delta blamed the problem on a network outage, which an airline spokeswoman told the Detroit Free Press was “related to a third-party connectivity provider to Delta” at the airport’s McNamara terminal.

As of 4 p.m. CT, one flight from Des Moines to Detroit, Delta 5414 (operated by Endeavor), was delayed almost three hours, leaving the capital city at 9 a.m. CT instead of its scheduled 6:17 a.m. CT. Another flight, Delta 3658 (operated by SkyWest), is delayed more than six hours, with a scheduled departure of 4:35 p.m. CT instead of 10:20 a.m. CT. The evening flight, Delta 4812 (operated by Endeavor), was delayed about two hours and expected to depart at 7:54 p.m. instead of its scheduled 5:43 p.m.
A flight from Detroit to Des Moines, Delta 3658 (operated by SkyWest) left Michigan at 3:12 p.m. ET, instead of its original 8:35 a.m. ET.
