A pedestrian has died after being struck by a truck on Des Moines’ east side.
A Des Moines police news release said officers and fire officials, called to the intersection of Hubbell Avenue and East Douglas Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, found a 67-year-old woman who had been struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck.

She was taken to UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.
The pickup truck was heading southwest on Hubbell Avenue when it passed through the intersection of East Douglas Avenue on a green light and hit the pedestrian who was in the roadway about 90 feet southwest of the crosswalk, police found in an initial investigation.
Police do not believe the driver was impaired or driving in a careless manner, the release said.
The accident is Des Moines’ second traffic-related fatality of the year.
