Clear Creek Amana softball player Kyla Schulte and Iowa City High baseball player Nicholas Meredith were voted by Press-Citizen readers as the Athletes of the Week for June 23-29.
Schulte earned girls Athlete of the Week with 54% of the vote.
Schulte was a top playmaker during CCA softball’s 15-2 win over South Tama on June 25. The junior Clipper tallied three hits, including a home run against the Trojans. She also scored three runs and added two RBIs.
Meredith won boys Athlete of the Week with 44% of the vote.
Meredith tossed a stellar game on the mound during City High’s 6-0 win over Linn-Mar on June 23. Through six scoreless innings, the senior pitcher earned three strikeouts and limited the Lions to three hits.
