As Iowa looks to round out its 2026 recruiting class before December’s Early Signing Period arrives, the Hawkeyes extended an offer to three-star defensive back Braeden Presley, who is currently committed to Oklahoma State.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder out of Bixby High School in Bixby, Okla., is currently ranked as the No. 45 safety in the 2026 recruiting cycle and the No. 9 prospect in the Sooner State, according to 247Sports. Rivals ranks Presley as the nation’s No. 95 cornerback and as the No. 14 player in the state of Oklahoma.
While Presley committed to the Cowboys on July 3, the uncertainty amid the program’s coaching change has created chaos within the team and its future recruits. Seeing the opportunity, the Hawkeyes have jumped at the chance to poach Presley away from Stillwater with a scholarship offer.
Oklahoma State fired longtime head coach Mike Gundy on Sept. 23 after the Cowboys started just 1-2 and suffered embarrassing losses against both Oregon and Tulsa.
In his junior season at Bixby High School, Presley excelled in nearly every facet of the game.
Presley caught 25 passes for 356 yards and four scores, rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns and threw a 55-yard touchdown pass. Defensively, Presley recorded 39 tackles, three tackles for loss, four interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery that he took back 100 yards for a score. On special teams, Presley amassed 400-plus kick and punt return yards, averaging 19.9 yards and 10.7 yards per return, respectively.
When he committed to Oklahoma State, Presley had a final four schools of Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas State and Texas Tech. Since the OSU coaching change, Presley has picked up offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Illinois, Arizona State and Arizona.
While Presley possesses all-around skills, the Hawkeyes envision Presley serving primarily on the defensive side of the ball if he is lured to Iowa City.
