How Iowa House members voted on a 'Make America Healthy Again' bill

Iowa House lawmakers voted to pass a wide-ranging “Make America Healthy Again” bill proposed by Gov. Kim Reynolds.

The legislation, House File 2676, would require Iowa to seek federal permission to prevent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients from using their food assistance dollars to buy unhealthy foods like pop or candy.

It would also allow Iowans to buy over-the-counter ivermectin without a prescription, ban certain food dyes from school meals, require students to get more physical activity and require state nutrition guidelines to promote Iowa-based protein.

Lawmakers voted 65-30 to pass the bill on March 3, sending it to the Iowa Senate. One Republican, Rep. Matthew Rinker, R-Burlington, joined every Democrat in voting no.

Here’s how every House lawmaker voted.
