MUNCIE, IN — A Yorktown woman was fatally injured on Tuesday, March 3, in a two-vehicle crash on Cornbread Road.
Chief Deputy Jeff Stanley of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department said the crash was reported in the 5700 block of West Cornbread about 5:55 p.m.
Delaware County Coroner Gavin Greene later identified the victim as Tameka Desirree Cope, 50.
According to Stanley, the collision involved an eastbound Chevrolet HHR, driven by Cope, and a westbound Buick Envoy.
The Envoy was occupied by an adult driver and two juveniles, all from Muncie. They were taken by ambulance to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
The collision continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s crash reconstruction team. Stanley said one of the vehicles apparently crossed the center line.
In addition to sheriff’s deputies, Yorktown police and firefighters and Delaware County EMS, along with the coroner’s office, responded to the scene.
