WINCHESTER, IN — A Winchester man who pleaded guilty to two counts of promotion of human sexual trafficking has been sentenced to nine years in prison.
Louis David Galligan, 22, also pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography, and making an unlawful proposition.
The nine-year sentence — imposed in recent days by Special Judge Nick Barry — was specified under the terms of a plea agreement.
At the time of his arrest, in January 2024, Randolph County deputies said Galligan had threatened to come to Ridgeville with an assault rifle and “shoot someone.”
Investigators said they had also learned Galligan had “been getting juvenile males to send him pornographic photos and videos.”
He was also accused of engaging in sex acts with one juvenile male and in an attempted sex act with a second youth.
After he was charged with related crimes in January 2024, Galligan posted bond at the Randolph County Jail and then fled to England, where he was recaptured.
Judge Barry received a letter from Galligan’s sisters, who live in Great Britain, urging him to impose a “fair and compassionate sentence.”
Galligan received credit for 661 days already spent in custody.
He was convicted of false informing in Jay Superior Court in January 2023. That case stemmed from a false report being made to emergency dispatchers.
