Kobby Addo wins Nov. 3-8 South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week Poll

Congratulations to Kobby Addo, a senior football player from South Bend Saint Joseph High School, for winning the South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week Poll for Nov. 3-8. Addo had 794 of 1,322 total votes, or 60.06% of the vote.

Nyla Hover, a senior volleyball player from Niles High School, finished in second with 258 votes, or 19.52% of the vote.

Here are this week’s nominees, in alphabetical order by school.

Eliana Grubbs, Bremen

Senior Grubbs had 20 points in a 62-42 win over New Prairie. She added 10 in the Lions’ season opener against Argos.

Reese Breveard, Concord

The senior had 118 total yards and four touchdowns to help his No. 6 team beat Fort Wayne North 34-29 for a Class 5A sectional title.

Cole Stafford, LaVille

The senior piled up 272 total yards and scored four times as the Lancers beat West Central 49-6 for a Class 1A sectional championship.

Laniah Davis, Marquette Catholic

Senior guard Davis totaled 46 points and 26 rebounds to help her team open the season with wins over Westville 66-40 and South Bend Adams 72-51.

Da’Mon Thomas, Michigan City

Thomas had an interception late in the fourth quarter to help seal a 28-21 win over LaPorte in the sectional title game.

Trinaston Hart, Michigan City

Hart had 309 total yards and three touchdowns to help his team beat LaPorte 28-21 to win a Class 5A sectional title.

Nyla Hover, Niles

Senior Hover picked up her 1,000th career dig and helped lead her team to a Division 2 District championship. 

Lily Scholl, Northridge

Junior Scholl had 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals as the Raiders beat Chesterton 63-49 in their season opener.

Landon Hall, Penn

Junior Hall passed for 314 yards and three touchdowns as the No. 5 Kingsmen beat No. 3 Crown Point 28-24 to win a Class 6A sectional title.

Quinn Watson, Penn

Senior Watson had a strip sack and a fumble recovery with less than 90 seconds left to seal his team’s 28-24 win over Crown Point in the sectional title game.

Kobby Addo, South Bend Saint Joseph

Senior Addo had a key fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter to help the No. 7 Huskies seal a 13-7 win over No. 4 Mishawaka for a Class 4A sectional championship.
