The closure affects just over three miles of the interstate between 71st Street and I-865. It was not immediately clear how long the closure would last.

A Pontiac sedan was fleeing from police when it crashed, according to Sgt. John Perrine with the Indiana State Police. Its driver was injured but is in stable condition, and no one else was hurt. No other details about the circumstances leading up to the police chase have been released.
