WEST LAFAYETTE, IN — Purdue University provided a campus transit update to students and employees in a Thursday email, announcing a new app and the date that off-campus bus passes will be available to buy.
The university has launched its own transit app, Purdue Campus Transit, before the debut of new busing company SP+ Corp. The company will replace CityBus as Purdue’s on-campus transportation provider, tweaking routes, Purdue says, to expand transportation to underserved locations.
The app will show fixed routes and track vehicles live, in addition to allowing users to schedule an on-demand ride. The email says riders are encouraged to check the app before riding in case of any changes.
The email also set Aug. 18 as the first day that Purdue-subsidized, $49 off-campus bus passes will be available from CityBus. The company will require riders to buy a pass or fare starting Aug. 25.
