Pacers injury report: Updates on Bennedict Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson

INDIANAPOLIS — Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin and center Isaiah Jackson have been ruled out for Friday night’s game with injuries, but Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said in his pre-game press conference that there’s a chance both could return during Indiana’s upcoming five-game road trip.

Mathurin has been out since Jan. 4 with a right thumb sprain. Carlisle said he worked out with Mathurin on Thursday and that he would work out with him again just after his press conference.

“He’s making a lot of progress,” Carlisle said. “Don’t know which game it would be on the trip or if at all for sure, but I know that in his mind from conversations that I’ve had with him him that would be his desire would be for him to play on the trip.”

Jackson has been out since Dec. 23 with a concussion. Carlisle said earlier this week that he had recovered from the head injury itself but that he needed to get his conditioning back before taking the floor.

“He’s closer,” Carlisle said. “He’ll be on the trip. He’s doing well.”

Mathurin ranks second on the Pacers with 17.8 points per game and is also averaging 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Jackson is averaging 7.3 points and 5.9 rebounds.
