LAFAYETTE, IN — A man in his 20s died early Monday in a one-vehicle crash at Indiana 26 and Tippecanoe County Road 900 East, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department and the coroner’s office.
The man was westbound in his 2008 GMC Yukon when he crossed the center and drove off the south side of the two-lane state highway, according to the sheriff’s department. He overcorrected and returned to the road but lost control on the slight curve in the road east of County Road 900 East.

His Yukon left the north side of the road, overturned and rolled, according to the sheriff’s department.
The man was thrown from the SUV, police said. The Yukon and the man were found in a field on the northeast corner of the intersection about 20 feet from one another.
Initial police reports do not indicate where the man was heading or from where he came, according to the sheriff’s department.
Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said her office will release the man’s identity after positive identification is confirmed and the man’s family is notified. His autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
The crash remains under investigation.
