Ivy Alley Social House stays open with new hours, open on weekends

SOUTH BEND — Ivy Alley Social House co-owner Nathan Klein said Friday, June 5, that the local duckpin bowling spot will now be open three days a week following an announcement in May that the establishment was permanently closing.

Known for bringing duckpin bowling to South Bend, Ivy Alley was opened at the end of December 2025 by parents Karen and Dave Klein and their son Nathan. The social house also sells craft beer and specialty pizzas, and the business, at 321 W. Wayne St., operates out of the 100-year-old Spenner garage building.

Ivy Alley is now open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. The establishment will also be available for private events Mondays through Thursdays. The main kitchen, bar and pizza kitchen will be open during the new hours.

On May 16, the family posted on Ivy Alley’s Facebook page that they made the “heart-wrenching decision” to close Ivy Alley’s doors. Since then, Nathan said the family has been working with different individuals to help with the social house’s marketing, which is aiding the business in continuing to keep its doors open.

“It’s mostly been support from the community and a couple of different people who are helping us and [giving] advice,” Nathan said. “We’re looking forward to making Ivy Alley and Bucket Head Brewing better and a bigger part of our community.”
