INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever are finalizing terms with backup point guard Ty Harris, a source close to the situation told IndyStar on Saturday afternoon.
An announcement is expected Sunday.
Harris will likely serve as the primary backup to Fever starting point guard and All-WNBA first-teamer Caitlin Clark.
In this signing, Harris will return to a familiar place, both inside and out of the Fever organization. She’s from the Indianapolis metro, growing up in the northern suburb of Noblesville and winning three ISHAA titles at Heritage Christian. She was an Indiana All-Star in both her junior and senior seasons, and was part of a loaded 2016 Miss Indiana Basketball class that included eventual 2019 WNBA Draft No. 1 pick Jackie Young.

Harris played her college years at South Carolina, then was drafted with the No. 7 pick to the Dallas Wings in 2019. She spent three seasons in Dallas, then was traded to the Connecticut Sun ahead of the 2023 season — which is where she first worked with Fever coach Stephanie White.
She played two seasons under White in Connecticut, first as the backup point guard in 2023 then the starter in 2024. She started 38 of 39 games with White and the Sun in 2024, averaging 10.5 points and 3.0 assists per game and helping Connecticut to the WNBA semifinals. Harris was then traded back to Dallas ahead of the 2025 season, but she only played in five games because of a season-ending knee injury in June.
Harris has now recovered from that knee injury, and she’s heading back home to Indiana.
