EVANSVILLE — The Indiana high school girls wrestling postseason has reached its conclusion.
The final stage commenced with the IHSAA state finals on Friday, Jan. 16, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center in Indianapolis. Nine individuals from Southwestern Indiana qualified for the state championship in the second year of girls wrestling being an official IHSAA sport.
Only four advanced to the placement rounds. Kenna Kleinschmidt of North Posey had the best showing with a fourth-place finish at 110 pounds. The junior had a late pin in the opening match before winning an 11-8 decision to reach the semifinals. Kleinschmidt finished the season with a 32-8 record.
Adelyn Gamblin of North Posey and Madalyn McCarty of Mount Vernon finished fifth at 125 and 140, respectively. Mya Menke of Southridge took seventh at 135. Here is how every individual from the Evansville area fared at the IHSAA state championship.

145: Olivia Knabel (North Knox) lost to Lanessa Ocampo (New Haven) by fall in 2:59 in first round
145: Ambryn Siddons (Mount Vernon) lost to Audrey Troutner (Huntington North) by fall in 1:06 in first round
170: Jocelyn Dubon (Southridge) lost to Laine Peppler (Rochester) by fall in 3:07 in first round
235: Ryleigh Pitts (Tecumseh) lost to Jayleigh Holler (Franklin Central) by fall in 1:59 in first round
