How many inches of snow did Indiana get? Early totals for Dec. 1-2

After an early start to the snowfall on Dec. 1, some areas received more snow than meteorologists were initially expecting.

The highest record accumulation of snow was recorded in Rushville, which received 6.8 inches of snow, according to National Weather Service meteorologists.

For folks hoping for clear roads, meteorologists predict that the snow may remain on the ground for the next few days, as an arctic cold front is expected to travel over Indiana later this week.

“A lot of what’s on the ground isn’t going anywhere any time soon,” said Mike Ryan, a meteorologist with NWS Indianapolis. “Whatever doesn’t melt by tomorrow is going to hang around into the weekend due to the cold weather.”

Here’s how much snow was reported to the NWS Dec. 1-2, 2025. These are unofficial totals. Official totals are expected later in the day.
