It has been a very interesting last few seasons for former Notre Dame tight end Durham Smythe, and on Wednesday he made yet another move within the NFL.
Drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2018, he spent the first seven seasons in South Beach. In 2025, he joined Irish tight end Cole Kmet with the Chicago Bears. It was a short tenure in the Windy City for Smythe. It was reported by Jeff Zrebiec that Smythe signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

While it might seem like he’s team hopping, this move was calculated. The Ravens new offensive coordinator, Declan Doyle, was with the Bears this past season. Familiarity surely played a big role in Smythe heading to Baltimore, as he will not have to learn a new offense and will get to play with one of the top quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson.
During his career, Smythe has 136 receptions for 1,253 yards along with three touchdowns. He’s viewed as more of a blocker than a receiving threat, so don’t expect big numbers this season with the Ravens.
