Colts' Shane Steichen with brief update on K Spencer Shrader injury

At this time, we are still waiting for an official update on Indianapolis Colts’ kicker Spencer Shrader, but his injury outlook doesn’t look promising, according to Shane Steichen.

“It doesn’t look good, but I don’t have the full update,” Steichen said after the Colts’ win, via Colts.com.

Editor’s note: Spencer Shrader has been ruled out for the rest of the 2025 NFL season.

While attempting an extra point following the Colts’ second touchdown, Shrader put the ball through the uprights, extending Indianapolis’ lead to 14-3.

However, in that process, Raiders’ safety Tristin McCollum ran into Shrader’s right leg. Shrader remained down after the collision and then gingerly walked off the field.

McCollum was flagged for a personal foul penalty.

After a short visit to the medical tent, he headed to the locker room and was ruled out shortly after with a right knee injury.

Without Shrader, punter Rigoberto Sanchez would handle kickoffs, while on the Colts’ ensuing touchdowns, the team opted to go for two each time.

Not only were they without their kicker, but with Sanchez filling that role, the Colts also would have needed a new holder.

Shrader was just named the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month for September. He entered this week’s game perfect on extra points and 13-of-14 on field goals, including a game-winner against Denver.

We will provide further updates once reported.
