A second person plead guilty on Friday for their part in a botched Facebook Marketplace robbery that took place in Peoria in 2024.
Keshawn Williams, 20, plead guilty on Friday in Peoria County Court to being involved in a Facebook Marketplace robbery that led to a shootout and one person being killed in January 2024.
Williams is one of five people who have been charged in a case where two people were scammed into traveling to Peoria under the guise of purchasing a car and instead were put to gunpoint in an attempted robbery on the 2100 block of West Lincoln Avenue in Peoria.
A shootout ensued between the would-be robbers and the victims, leading to the death of an 18-year-old Bloomington man who was in on the botched scheme. The shooter was not charged because the use of a legally owned firearm was deemed self-defense.
Williams joined 19-year-old Jayln Branscumb in pleading guilty. Sontarrius Williams, 28, Johnathan Williams, 18, and Tanrius Kingcade have also been charged in the case.
