Boone County Sheriff’s Department deputies are investigating a fatal crash that killed a 78-year-old Rockford man.
Richard J. Todd of Rockford was killed about 3:43 p.m. Jan. 14 at the intersection of Bypass Route 20 and Shattuck Road. His 2015 Nissan van crossed into the eastbound lane of traffic and struck a semi-truck head-on, according to information from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
First responders from Boone County Fire District 2 and MD-1 responded to the scene along with Boone County deputies.
Todd was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi suffered what were said to be minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff Department’s accident reconstruction team and the Boone County Coroner.
