Bears hosting potential center replacement for retired Drew Dalman

The shocking news of the sudden retirement of Chicago Bears center Drew Dalman has put the team in need of a new starting center, and there are already rumblings of who the front office could be targeting in the aftermath of the shocking news.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears are hosting free agent center Tyler Biadasz, who most recently started for the Washington Commanders.

Since Biadasz was released before the start of free agency, Chicago is able to bring him in on a visit and begin negotiations if they feel he is their target to replace Dalman. A former fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2020 NFL Draft, Biadasz was with Dallas until the 2024 season, when he stayed in the division and signed with the Washington Commanders, having made the Pro Bowl in the 2022 season.

Dalman spent just one season with Chicago after signing a three-year, $42 million contract last offseason in a complete overhaul of the team’s interior offensive line.

Dalman played well, earning and was a big reason why the team found plenty of success, especially in pass protection, where they allowed just 25 sacks on quarterback Caleb Williams, significantly down from the 68 sacks he took in his rookie season.
