Lottery players had quite the holiday season with the record-setting Powerball prize of $1.817 billion — will there be a big winner in January?

After the 2025 Christmas Eve Powerball inched close to $2 billion, one lucky ticket purchased from a Murphy USA gas station at the Walmart Supercenter in Cabot, Arkansas, had the perfect match. The Dec. 24, 2025, jackpot reached a whopping $1.817 billion.
The jackpot restarted at $20 million for Saturday, Dec. 27, and has been growing ever since.
After no one matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Saturday, Jan. 10, Powerball drawing, the jackpot jumped to $137 million for Monday, Jan. 12. If there’s a perfect match, the grand prize winner could choose a one-time cash option of $69.1 million, according to Powerball online. Monday, Jan. 12, winning Powerball numbers were 5-27-45-56-59 and the Powerball was 4. Power Play was 2x. Those numbers mean another rollover.
The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday now climbs to $156 million, with a cash option of $70.5 million.

In case you’re wondering, Saturday, Jan. 10, winning Powerball numbers were 5-19-21-28-64 and the Powerball was 14. Power Play was 3x. Three lucky tickets did win big, matching 5 for $1 million prizes. Those tickets were purchased in California, Ohio and Oregon.

Whether the Walmart location closest to you sells lottery tickets depends on your state and the store.
