What an exciting season it was in high school sports in the Gainesville area for the 2025-26 season.
Dreams began for athletes under the scorching Florida heat in July for fall sports athletes and ended in equally brutal heat in late May. Some dreams were never met, but many were met.
Those are the moments we want to discuss. They are moments like Hawthorne football winning its third state title in four years, and then Cornelius Ingram resigning and returning – all within three months.
They are memories like the area’s five other state champions in the campaign – Trenton and Columbia softball, Union County baseball, Williston girls basketball and Branford volleyball.
We had teams that didn’t necessarily win a championship, like Gainesville High volleyball and Buchholz baseball, but ignited the city of Gainesville.
What was the best moment of this season? We named our top 10 last week, but now it is your time to pick the best.
Voting is open until 12 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and you can vote as many times as you’d like. Please share this poll with friends and family, and good luck to all!
