A man wanted in connection to a shooting that wounded a West Palm Beach police officer on Oct. 7 has turned himself in, city police said.
Investigators say Emmanuel McRae, 22, of West Palm Beach surrendered shortly after 11 p.m. and was taken into custody without further incident. McCrae was wanted into connection to a shooting incident that occurred at about 2 a.m. on Oct. 7 on the 300 block of Baker Drive, a residential neighborhood off Congress Avenue near Interstate 95.
According to a police statement, an officer was shot in his ballistic vest during an exchange of gunfire at that location. The officer received care at a hospital and was released, police said.
During an afternoon news conference at police headquarters, Chief Tony Arajuo identified McRae as the suspected shooter described him as armed and dangerous.
He did not take questions, saying the investigation remained open. Police did not release any other details about the altercation that prompted the response.
